Um, Hello...? Anybody there?
So, I've finally started blogging. This is where you will hear about my music endeavors, raves and rants.
I will break no mold as I will start my blog experience by introducing myself:
My name is Juan, and I'm a musician. I grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina. My studies are Composition and Film Scoring (Berklee College of Music) and Masters in Composition (CUNY). Currently I live in New York City where I've been involved with the music in several forms, such as:
Playing guitar, programming and composing for Trip Hop band Puracane - www.myspace.com/puracane
I've been working with my great chanteuse/friend Ali Rogers for over three years now. This project became a central part of my life. We released our latest album "I've been here the longest" a few months ago and are quite happy with it. We've been playing in NY and surroundings quite a bit too.
Playing bass for Copal - www.myspace.com/copal
I've been recently recruited to play bass and synths with this amazing band. Led by the not-less amazing violinist Hannah Thiem, Copal is a mixture of gypsy and middle eastern songs with driven beats. The line-up is as simple as effective: violin, cello, bass, synth sounds and drums. The shows also include dumbek/frame drum players and belly-dancers. In these last months, we played a lot of gigs in NYC and Boston.
Teaching at SAE NY
I have been teaching at SAE NY for over three years now. I taught hundreds -if not thousands - Sampling, Synthesis, Logic, Reason, Songwriting, Arranging and Music Theory.
Learning Advisor at SAEOnline
I started developing and offering my Logic and Reason Courses at SAEOnline three months ago. So far it has been a great experience for me and the students.
Composing music for film, tv and media
I have done a number of scores for indie films, shorts, documentaries, theater plays, TV commercials and such. I will share them with you in upcoming posts.
I will now read some of the blogs of my fellow SAErs and start a much needed networking.
Cheers,
Juan.-

Hey Juan
Great to see you here and what an interesting background too!
I get to NYC couple times a year so I'll be sure to hook-up with you next time.
That would be awesome. Let me know.
Hello Juan,
Your blog looks great. I too am a learning advisor for SAE OnLine teaching Music Theory using Logic. I have been meaning to get my blog underway, but haven't a minute to spare. Sounds like we have much in common, and I hope to meet you soon if I can get up to NYC. I speak with John Jansen all the time and I really need to get up there.
We need to have you visit ATL to do a seminar for our students!
Let's stay in touch,
best,
Joshua Grau
